YESCO Electronics has joined the fight to recover abducted children by assisting in the creation of a system for the distribution of AMBER Alerts™ to digital billboards across the United States.

The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) is a partner with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as a secondary AMBER Alert distributor. YESCO Electronics worked with the OAAA and the NCMEC to create a flexible, dynamic system that allows digital billboard operators to receive the post AMBER Alerts.

"We are proud to partner with YESCO and NCMEC to use this valuable technology to support this vital cause," said Nancy Fletcher, OAAA's president and CEO. "Digital billboards are on the cutting edge of outdoor advertising technology and are uniquely suited to purposes like AMBER Alerts."

YESCO's participation enhances the overall goal of the AMBER Alert program to notify as many people as possible of a recent child abduction, and to provide information which can help in the search for and safe return of the abducted child.

The AMBER Alert program, operated by the United States Department of Justice, was founded in 1997 and named in honor of Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old who was abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas, in 1996. Since the program's inception, AMBER Alerts have been credited with the successful recovery of more than 399 children.

"The success of the AMBER Alert program is directly related to people’s willingness to get involved, which is invaluable," said John Kelly, chairman of NCMEC's board of directors. "OAAA's digital technology will allow thousands more to join the search and aid in the rescue and recovery of these children."
