The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 restricts and phases out the use of certain incandescent light bulbs in order to improve the energy efficiency of lighting. All light bulbs must use 25 percent to 30 percent less energy by 2014. By 2020, bulbs must be 70 percent more efficient than they are today.
