At Young Electric Sign Company, we were “green” long before environmental issues came to the forefront. As new, energy-saving technologies are developed, we incorporate them into our design, production and maintenance services and products. In doing so, we help safeguard the environment, while the people we serve realize decreased energy costs and product performance improvements.

 

Here are a few examples of how we are making a difference:

 

Our Plants, Offices and Motorized Fleet

  • Recycling waste streams such as paper, fluorescent lamps and scrap metal

  • Purchasing new, 100 percent recyclable flex-face material for outdoor advertising products

  • Offering our clients electronic invoices as an option

  • Using energy-efficient fluorescent lighting with electronic ballasts and low-water-usage restrooms in some of our facilities

  • Introducing fuel-saving hybrid technology into our vehicle fleet

 

Electronic Display Systems

  • Building automatic dimming technology into our electronic displays to reduce the energy output to the lowest level of power required to be effective in any given ambient light

  • Cutting power usage by as much as 45 percent by redesigning our products to use fewer LEDs as brighter LEDs become available

  • Installing energy-efficient components in our products, such as 85 percent efficient power supplies that meet the strict requirements set by California’s 2006-2008 Energy Efficiency Campaign

  • Reducing the power used by the monitors in our control systems by two-thirds by using LCD flat-panel monitors rather than CRT monitors

  • Taking advantage of design-driven ways to save energy, such as designing our displays to be cooled by fans rather than power-hungry air-conditioning units

  • Recycling solder dross from the circuit board manufacturing process
