The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) of Utah has presented YESCO with its prestigious IT Edge award for 2009. The award cites the implementation of YESCO’s enterprise-wide software tool called the YESCO Workbench developed by Justin May and Cody Ahlquist under the leadership of Warren Strong, vice president of IT at YESCO Corporate.

“About five years ago we decided to do something about the growing problem we were having with non-integrated data,” explains Warren. “Over the years, numerous software applications have been developed at both the corporate and the individual department levels. This resulted in a myriad of non-integrated custom reports and spreadsheets. We realized we needed a powerful, integrated enterprise-level solution that would provide unified access to data stored in various databases.”

The YESCO Workbench is that solution. It offers easy-to-access data from various databases with a single logon and a seamless standard user interface. It supports lean manufacturing initiatives by reducing wasteful duplication of efforts. It streamlines workflow through integrated task management and facilitates the rapid deployment of new custom application modules.

According to MEP of Utah, the annual IT Edge award recognizes the one company of the state’s 4,000 manufacturers that most notably “demonstrates significant and effective use and innovation in the integration of information technology within the business for the competitive edge.”

“We’re very pleased with the award,” says Warren. “It means we’re doing well in making sure our clients receive the best, most cost-effective products and services in the industry.”
