A control box was also supplied and installed, allowing the display to feature university colors, white and Aggie blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, YESCO installed a stem-mounted photocell, automatically activating the LED illumination at dusk and turning it off at dawn. Work on the retrofitting project began on June 24 and took more than 236 man-hours of labor to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FUN FACTS:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first block &#8220;A&#8221; light was Utah State University\u2019s first senior gift, awarded by the graduating class of 1909.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each letter \u201cA\u201d measures approximately 12-feet-wide x 14-feet-tall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The original \u201cA\u201d light contained 146 candle light bulbs and was affixed to the west side of the tower.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cThis project is a blend of tradition and innovation \u2013 honoring Utah State University\u2019s legacy while integrating cutting-edge RGB LED technology,\u201d said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. \u201cThe new signage not only enhances the visibility and vibrancy of the tower but also allows for dynamic displays that reflect the university\u2019s spirit.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cLighting of the \u2018A\u2019 atop Utah State University\u2019s Old Main has been a cherished Aggie tradition throughout our history,\u201d said Ben Berrett, associate vice president for USU Facilities. \u201cYESCO made a great effort to work with our dedicated Facilities team to make sure this tradition continues without interruption.
