YESCO recently completed a major digital signage upgrade at Los Angeles Union Station in Los Angeles, California, replacing aging interior displays with 15 custom, high-resolution LED screens designed to deliver clearer transit information while complementing the historic station’s distinctive 1930s architecture.
Working with Metro and general contractor Abbott Construction, YESCO helped modernize digital communication throughout the main waiting room, concourse, and passageways of one of the West Coast’s busiest transportation hubs.
The new system incorporates more than 20 million LED diodes, providing the resolution needed to keep schedules, wayfinding information, station updates, and other messaging crisp and readable for thousands of daily travelers.

15 Custom Displays Built for a Busy Transit Hub
The project included 15 new LED displays in a variety of custom configurations, ranging from smaller directional displays to large-format concourse screens measuring approximately 4 feet 2 inches by 24 feet 8 inches.
With pixel pitches as tight as 1.56 millimeters, the displays provide detailed, high-resolution content that remains easy to read whether travelers are standing nearby or viewing information from across the station.

Modern Technology Meets Historic Architecture
Installing cutting-edge digital displays inside an 87-year-old landmark presented a unique challenge.
Los Angeles Union Station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so the new technology needed to integrate with the existing architecture without compromising original surfaces, finishes, tilework, or the visual character of the terminal.
YESCO worked alongside Morlin Asset Management, Cresa SoCal, Selbert Perkins Design, and SNA Displays to carefully coordinate the placement, framing, and construction of each display.
Rather than competing with the station’s historic design, the finished digital signage was created to fit naturally within it.
More Than 20 Million LEDs
Behind the streamlined appearance is a substantial amount of display technology.
Across the 15 signs, the system incorporates more than 20 million individual LED diodes. The ultra-fine pixel pitch allows detailed information to remain sharp at relatively close viewing distances—an important consideration in interior environments where passengers may pass directly beneath or alongside a display.
