This project goes well beyond traditional signage.

Visitors encounter a variety of custom displays exploring subjects ranging from the construction of Hoover Dam and the growth of Boulder City to mining, tourism, transportation and the development of railroads throughout Nevada.

Large wall graphics establish the backdrop for the exhibits, while freestanding displays combine historical photography, dimensional components and interpretive information.

Among the installations are exhibits highlighting “Built by Rail,” “Transformed by Trains,” “Hauling to Hoover,” steam and diesel power, and the continued role of rail transportation in Nevada.

Custom Exhibit Fabrication

One of the most striking aspects of the project is the variety of fabrication methods incorporated throughout the space.

YESCO’s work included large-format graphics, dimensional lettering, custom exhibit structures, suspended graphic elements, wall-mounted displays and other visual components that turn historical information into an engaging physical environment.

Several freestanding exhibits incorporate railroad-inspired details directly into their structures, while overhead elements including railroad imagery, signals and destination graphics add another visual layer above the museum floor.

Large-Format Environmental Graphics

Oversized wall graphics help establish a sense of place throughout the museum.

The “Moving Nevada Into the Future” installation stretches across a large section of wall and combines a Nevada landscape and freight train image with dimensional lettering. Other displays use archival railroad photography, maps and historical imagery at architectural scale.

These graphics allow historical photographs and documents to become part of the surrounding environment rather than simply appearing on traditional museum panels.

Wayfinding and Interpretive Displays

The project also incorporates informational and directional elements, including a Boulder City display featuring a regional map and a numbered list of nearby destinations such as Hoover Dam, the Boulder City-Hoover Dam Museum and historic railroad trails.

Together, the exhibits demonstrate how signage, graphics and custom fabrication can serve more than an identification purpose. They can help organize information, establish a visual theme and create an environment that supports storytelling.
