For over a century, the Fairfield Welcome Arch has greeted drivers entering downtown Fairfield, California. To prepare this iconic landmark for its next hundred years, the city partnered with YESCO to modernize the structure’s tech while preserving its classic aesthetic.
The Upgrades: Modern Tech, Classic Soul
- Replicated Neon Glow: Replaced fragile, aging neon with custom LED flex tube lighting, mimicking the original warm glow with modern energy efficiency.
- Infrastructure Overhaul: Completely rewired internal electrical components to fix decades of wear and tear, ensuring long-term safety.
- Reduced Overhead: Lowered energy consumption and ongoing maintenance costs, saving time and city dollars.
Over 100 Years of Civic History
Originally built in 1925 by the local Lions Club for under $1,000, the arch lit up Texas Street with 80 incandescent bulbs. Saved from demolition by passionate residents in 1961, it even features a historic emergency beacon once used to alert local police and firefighters to incoming calls.
