Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Young.

Jeff, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

YESCO’s story began 106 years ago when a young artist named Thomas Young began painting letters on walls, trucks, and posters, as well as doing gold-leaf on windows. From there, it expanded into electronic signs, including some of the first neon in the country. YESCO expanded in the southwest region for decades. YESCO’s formal entry into the Phoenix market was solidified when we acquired Federal Sign and opened a branch office in 1978. Since then, YESCO has been the creative force behind some of the Valley’s most recognizable landmarks. Our work ranges from massive displays to intricate architectural lighting.

Some of our most prominent recent work includes:

– The Frank Lloyd Wright spire, built in 2004, was illuminated with fluorescent lamps by YESCO and then, more recently, retrofitted to LED. We maintain the lighting and exterior today.

-The Talking Stick Resort Signs, including a 100 ft tall double face pylon sign and 54 interior LED displays, with 335 million pixels.

– Designed, built, and installed the Gila River Resorts & Casinos Interior and exterior displays.

-In 2015, YESCO built the GCU I-17 freeway sign.

-2010 Lone Butte Casino Signs

-YESCO is also in the process of fabricating new signs, lighting, and large architectural steel structures for the Ocotillo Bridge in Gilbert.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Digital advertising and new LED technology has significantly changed the way we have approached designing signs. Despite our deep appreciation for and expertise in neon and classic signage, YESCO has had to adapt to the boom of LED displays. Signs aren’t just single static fixtures with one message anymore. Working with our clients to create displays that are both unique and adaptable is a challenge because an ROI can be tied to dynamic LED displays that can be used to advertis

We have been able to successfully do that when you look at the amazing waterfall display at the Gila River Resorts & Casino or the tightly curved displays inside the Talking Stick Resort.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
